Speech Topics

How do you choose a speech topic? This challenge confronts every Toastmaster who strives to become an expert speaker. At our club we help you choose topics.

Meanwhile, whether or not you are a club member here are some ideas:

  • Get personal - stories about yourself are often of interest
  • Think of your audience's biggest problems - and create a speech that solves one of them
  • What have you enjoyed? Sharing your pleasure helps you be enthusiastic about your topic
  • What do you feel strongly about? Talk about your passions
  • Self-help ideas often win at contests, especially if they have a touch of humor - how to...lose weight, build a deck, grow plants, cook, sell, give speeches, etc.
  • Travel is a good topic - either locally or to far flung shores
