On Tuesday, March 6, from 7:00 – 8:30 pm, we will hold our Table Topics Contest and International Speech Contest. This contest is open to everyone – all you need to do is be a paid member in good standing.
See below for more details. Contact Vidya Kagan, VP-Education and Contest Chair, at firstname.lastname@example.org if you would like to sign up as a speaker or a volunteer.
Speakers: We need speakers for both sections of the contest. Our goal is to get 3 speakers minimum for each section.
- Table Topics Contest: An impromptu speech, all contestants are assigned the same topic, told to them when they are introduced by the contest chair. Contestants must present a 1-2 minute impromptu speech.
- International Speech Contest: Contestants present a 5-7 minute speech on any subject they choose. (To participate in the International Speech Contest, you must have completed at least 6 speeches from Competent Communication prior to the club contest. )
Volunteers: First and foremost, we need a Contest Chair. Please contact me if you are interested in taking on this project. I chaired our Fall club speech contest in 2016 and it was an amazing learning experience, and fun too! I am happy be of assistance and provide as much guidance as you would like. We also need volunteers for the following positions: Chief Judge, voting judges, counters, and timers.
For complete details, please review the Speech Contest Rulebook on the Toastmasters website or contact me and I’ll answer your questions. Please note: if you are a speaker for this contest, you cannot be a volunteer, and vice versa.
Please contact Vidya to sign up! Thank you, and looking forward to a great contest!
